Is Bamboo eco-friendly?

Bamboo can grow up to 3-4 feet a day and spreads quickly without the need for fertilizer.  It is bacteria-resistant and does not require pesticides or much water.  A bamboo grove can be replanted in seven years versus 30 years for a hardwood forest.  It provides a third more oxygen than a similar sized hardwood forest and yields a large amount of bamboo fiber.

Bamboo is a very sustainable product with its quick and natural growth as compared to other fabrics.  However, the manufacturing process does use caustic chemicals to break down the woody fiber and give it its softness.  So, it's not 100% eco-friendly but certainly more so than its alternatives.
